  • 29 Oct 2025
  • 7.00 pm - 8.30 pm

Why does it feel like we’re getting poorer while billionaires increase their wealth to record levels?
Why are so many people in Leicestershire experiencing financial hardship?

Liberal Democrats Leicester invite two expert speakers to talk us through these issues.
We’ll hear from Rachel English, Associate Professor at the University of Leicester School of Business, who will unpack the impact of Brexit and trade tariffs on consumers and companies. Beth Kamunge-Kpodo, Lecturer in Law at Leicester Law School, will share her expert knowledge of food justice and international protections for those facing food poverty. Finally, Councillor Michael Mullaney (Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council) will connect these issues to Liberal Democrat values and policy responses.

This public lecture, organised by Liberal Democrats Leicester, is open to the wider community as well as Party members and supporters.
