SIGN THE PETITION BELOW: Safety Upgrade for Pool Post Office Crossing
Local Lib Dem campaigners Marc Hill and Gareth Dibble are calling on Leeds City Council to upgrade the zebra crossing outside Pool post office to incorporate more safety features.
Marc Hill is an HGV driver and passionate road safety campaigner. He has led Pool Parish Council's efforts to improve road safety in the village.
Responses to Marc's QR code initiative show that the existing zebra crossing is regularly abused by drivers failing to stop for pedestrians.
Marc commented: "We have observed a high number of cars failing to stop and allow pedestrians to cross outside the post office. In its current state the crossing is giving users a false sense of security. We are calling on the council to upgrade to a puffin crossing, which will make it safer for pedestrians."
Gareth added: “Main Street is regularly congested with traffic. By upgrading to a puffin crossing we would get traffic lights and infrared sensors that detect when pedestrians are on the crossing. This upgrade should make it safer for residents to cross.”
Upgrade the Zebra Crossing outside Pool Post Office
We call on Leeds City Council to upgrade the zebra crossing outside the post office on Main Street, Pool-in-Wharfedale, to make this a safer crossing point for pedestrians.
