Scientific Success for Horsforth School

12.00.00am GMT Wed 11th Nov 2009

Staff and pupils at Horsforth Schools Science Department are celebrating following a first-class report from Ofsted.

Within the report, students were praised for their 'outstanding' behaviour, whilst staff were commended for the quality of their teaching.

The publication of the report coincides with the school's recent trip to the International Student Science Fair at Ritsumeikan University in Japan. Students were given the opportunity to engage with other international students and share their scientific knowledge.

A planned visit by the acclaimed Dr John Emsley will see him present his 'Molecules of Murder' talk, continuing the celebration of science at Horsforth School. Emsley's visit will coincide with the Otley Science Festival 2010 being held at the Courthouse between 15th-22nd November which Horsforth pupils are also attending.

Cllr Cleasby (Lib Dem, Horsforth and a School Governor) said:

"This is a great achievement for the school their science team have been working extremely hard with pupils to ensure lessons are fun and engaging. I am delighted that Horsforth pupils have been able to represent our area on an international level, they are a credit to Horsforth."
