Christmas party pledged for Yeadon care home12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 23rd Oct 2008 Residents of a sheltered housing complex in Yeadon have received an early Christmas present from local councillors who have donated £500 to their Christmas party. Councillors Ryk Downes, Colin Campbell and Graham Kirkland (Liberal Democrat, Otley and Yeadon) decided to pay for Lane Fox Court's Christmas party after management at the complex approached them for help. Cllr Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said: "The management of Lane Fox Court approached my ward colleagues and me to ask if we could help out with the cost of organising a Christmas party and entertainment for the residents. "I think it's important that everyone gets the chance to celebrate Christmas properly so we didn't hesitate in making the money available to them." Cllr Graham Kirkland (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said: "For some folk at the home, this will be the only Christmas meal they get so it's really important that it should be a memorable occasion. I hope everyone at the do has a fantastic time."
