Local Councillors host meeting to protest Little London post office closure

3.05.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 6th Jun 2008

Oatlands Post Office in Little London is proposed for closure in the recent Post Office Change Programme published earlier this month. This Programme suggests that services will be satisfactorily available at the post offices at the St John's Centre and on Woodhouse Street. This suggestion makes no allowance for the problems which residents may face in travelling further for PO services.

Local ward councillors Penny Ewens and Linda Rhodes-Clayton (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) have arranged a public meeting for Wednesday, 11th June at 6.45 pm at Space@ Little London (behind Little London Primary School, Meanwood Street LS7 1SR), followed by a drop-in session from 7.30 pm, to consider the implications of the proposal and the difficulties which many residents will face if it is carried through.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Richard Brett, will speak at the meeting and representatives from the Post Office will also be in attendance.

Any residents wishing to make their own representations to the Post Office Ltd, as well as sign the petition, will have the opportunity to discuss the best ways of doing so and to receive advice.

All are welcome.
