Liberal Democrat Group on Leeds City Council

Phone Mast refused

5.54.00pm GMT Mon 2nd Jun 2008

Cllr Colin Campbell welcomes the decision by Leeds City Council to refuse planning permission for another telecommunications mast in Thompsons Yard, East Chevin Road, Otley.

Cllr Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) commented:

"The mast, sited on the lower slopes of the Chevin, which is recognised as being of high landscape value, would have been totally inappropriate. I am pleased that the City Council has agreed with residents and ward councillors that this application should be refused. The other mast on the site is the subject of enforcement action and I hope progress can be made on this quickly."
