12.00.00am GMT Wed 12th Mar 2008

Suspension of Cllr Linda Rhodes-Clayton lifted after court case finally ends.

Councillor Linda Rhodes-Clayton (Hyde Park & Woodhouse) was today cleared of benefit fraud at Leeds Magistrates Court. The verdict means that under the Liberal Democrat Group's standing orders she will be automatically re-instated.

Liberal Democrat Group Leader, Cllr Richard Brett said, "Cllr Rhodes-Clayton was automatically suspended from the group when first charged, back in August last year. We are glad the case has come to an end and that the magistrates have accepted this was an innocent mistake."
