Almost £60,000 of funding has been agreed for improvements to the street environment in Hyde Park and Woodhouse ward.

At the meeting of Inner North West Area Committee last week, councillors agreed to fund a number of schemes that will help improve the area. Included in these projects are:

· -£40,000 to improve Woodsley Road shopping area that could include: removal of redundant street clutter, replacement railings and litter bins, upgrading of street furniture, limited replacement paving and new planters.

· -£5,000 for Hyde Park Source to continue their work transforming bin yards into community gardens.

· -£11,100 for festive lights in the ward.

Councillor Penny Ewens (Lib Dem, Hyde Park and Woodhouse) said:

"This is excellent news for the residents and traders on Woodsley Road and surrounding streets. Woodsley Road has long been in need of a facelift, and I'm pleased that we are now able to make a start on this.

"I am also pleased that Hyde Park Source have received further funding for their bin yards scheme. They really have worked wonders in our area."
