Seven council houses on Blenheim Square, Woodhouse are set to get a makeover totalling almost half a million pounds.

Work will be carried out by West North West Homes and is expected to be completed by end of next April.

Local councillor Penny Ewens has thrown her support behind the scheme.

Councillor Penny Ewens (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said:

"In an area like Woodhouse where there is a dearth of social housing it is vital that we keep the stock we have in good condition.

"The homes scheduled for a facelift are perfect for families and city-centre workers, close to both schools and local amenities.

"The properties face directly onto Blenheim Square itself, a wonderful green space that acts as a garden for local residents. Recent improvements made by the city council mean that the square is once again a real asset to the community."
