Queen's Chelsea Pensioners coming to Leeds for Poppy Concert

4.22.00pm GMT Mon 8th Oct 2007

A Poppy Appeal concert in Otley this Saturday will see guest appearances from two of the Queen's Chelsea Pensioners.

Leeds MP Greg Mulholland will also be in attendance, along with Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Alan Taylor and Otley Councillor Ryk Downes.

Councillor Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said, "This is going to be a fantastic event. Having two of the Queen's Chelsea Pensioners at the concert will be a real coup. The line-up for the event is fantastic with music from the Bradford Girls' Grammar School Choir and the world renowned Drighlington Brass Band.

"Representatives from the armed forces and veterans from the Second World War will all be at the concert including two American Colonels from Menwith Hill. The band has promised to play some Glen Miller numbers to make the Colonels feel at home and Crown Imperial in honour of the Queen's 60th wedding anniversary."
