Residents in Blenheim Avenue, Woodhouse have used their artistic flair to improve their environment and tackle the problem of cars clogging up their street.

Local families cleared and cleaned the grassy verge opposite their homes and erected 25 personalised stones in an effort to stop commuters using it as a parking lot.

Local councillor Penny Ewens, who was asked to design her own stone as a thank you for her support, has praised the scheme.

Councillor Penny Ewens (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said "The stones have been a huge success. Not only have they stopped people using the grassy verge as a car park they have added some colour to the street. The residents are rightly proud of their handiwork and credit has to go to Leeds Federated Housing, Groundwork Leeds and the Swarthmore Centre for all their help and guidance.
