Little London set to get new six figure sports facility

8.23.00pm GMT Mon 18th Jun 2007

A new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) located on Blackman Lane, Little London is set to open early next month.

The MUGA will provide facilities for local youngsters to get involved in a range of sports including football, basketball, netball and mini tennis.

Local councillor Kabeer Hussain, along with local residents campaigned for the MUGA and explained why the facility is so important for the area.

Councillor Kabeer Hussain (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said, "The MUGA will be a very welcome addition here in Little London. At the minute the number of leisure facilities on offer to local people is few and far between.

"This isn't just a case of providing facilities for exercise, it's about giving local youngsters something to do with their time that is both enjoyable and constructive.

"The link between anti-social behaviour and boredom isn't lost on anyone. The MUGA will provide a valuable outlet for those young people who are currently struggling to find something to do with their time. I'm sure the MUGA will prove particularly popular during the summer months and the school holidays."
