Leeds City Council are in the middle of a £10m, three year programme of Town & District Centre regeneration works across the city. As part of the process to award funding, proposals have been sought from town and district centres for improvements that will help to regenerate economic activity.

Headingley is one of the areas hoping to secure funding for improvement works. A number of locations and proposals have been put forward that could help to contribute towards the economic regeneration of the town centre. Possible areas for improvement so far identified are the Rose Garden on North Lane, the War Memorial site on Otley Road/St Michael's Road, North Lane/Otley Road/Wood Lane junction and co-ordinating street furniture to one style.

Comments are now being sought on the proposals from residents of Headingley and other interested parties such as local businesses.

Councillor James Monaghan (Lib Dem, Headingley) said "This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to have their say on how Headingley is regenerated. A drop in session is being held at Headingley Community Centre on Tuesday 5th June from 4-8pm, where plans will available to view and officers on hand to answer questions.

Councillor Monaghan added, "Plans will also be on display at Headingley Library from Wednesday 6th to Friday 15th June. Feedback forms will be available at both locations for residents to jot down their opinions. In the meantime if anyone should have any questions please contact Sarah Charlton on 0113 3952831."
